"Whirl-Y-Gig" is London's longest running night-club, first opening it's doors back in 1981. The original flyer, on which all the modern versions are based, was created using ink and Letraset during the early eighties by the owner of the club, Richard 'Monkey Pilot'. The method to create new flyers remained more or less the same for nearly twenty years until 2001 when rub-down lettering was no longer available. The task of digitally redesigning the flyer was started by my friend Matt Smith who had known the club from his student days. Matt, who is an excellent designer began a process of change that I have continued to push forward, while at the same time trying to preserve a clear link with the original concept. I originally created this page for Whirl-Y-Gig's own website but I've decided to put a version here on my own site. There's a link to the original which includes four of Matt's flyers, at the foot of this page.
